Event apps built on Eventicious platform allow to group users into categories. This opens many possibilities for event planners. In this post we would like to share six examples of how putting users in groups can help with some typical tasks

Different schedules for different groups

For example, a company is hosting an annual employee conference. After the opening ceremony and welcome address, attendees are split into several parallel streams: sales staff go to a sales training, marketing staff are busy developing a strategy, and top managers have their own program with invited speakers. To make sure that everyone knows where to go and what to be prepared for, each attendee has their own conference schedule in the mobile app

This feature is often used by organizers of educational sessions and courses where grouping is a part of the learning process. Instead of a huge sheet of paper with a lot of unneeded information, each attendee has a mobile app with their own study schedule conveniently tucked away in their pocket.

Attendee-specific content

For example, a conference has different admission rates, and the content available in the event app varies depending on the admission. Those who paid for a VIP ticket will have access to a special section with links to all presentations and sign-up forms for exclusive master classes from industry experts.

Splitting content into categories is also convenient at events with foreign guests. Speakers of other languages can have their own sections in the app where they’ll find pieces of advice to help them, a list of useful phrases, links to guided tours, a separate chat with event organizers in English, and so on.

Inter-team communication

For example, at an employee training, participants are divided into several teams.  Each team must design their own project and present it to their colleagues. To make it easier for members of the same team to communicate with each other outside of work sessions, a private chat was added to the application. Users can see only their team’s chat and do not have access to other chats.

And by the way, the organizers team would also welcome their own chat, where they can share information and discuss urgent questions.

Group gamification activities

For example, a corporate conference is attended by teams from several branches. The most active and involved branch will receive a valuable prize from event organizers. All participants are awarded points for being active at the conference: asking speakers questions, suggesting ideas, completing tests. Points earned by individual team members are added up to form the team score. Points can also be awarded to entire teams for presentations, participation in sports competitions, etc. Participants can see the current team ratings in the app at any time. The branch that collects the most points during the event is declared the winner.

Team gamification in the event mobile app is a great tool for organizing trainings and other team building activities. Points can be awarded automatically by scanning a bar code or manually through the administrator panel.

Group-specific push notifications

For example, attendees of a destination corporate conference arrive and leave at different times. Well before the conference, organizers divide them into groups and schedule push notifications with transfer information. In addition to that, organizers poll attendees about their sports preferences and divide them into three groups: yoga, soccer and swimming. Then push notifications are set up for each group to remind them about the start of their sports activities.

Push notifications are an invaluable tool for event organizers, and the ability to send different notifications to different attendee groups makes this tool even more precise.

A separate “Organizers” group

For example, organizers of an international forum use the event mobile app to make the attendees’ experience more comfortable, and, in addition to that, they also use it to coordinate their efforts as a team. Organizers have their own chat and their own private section in the application, with links that must be always at hand. Each member of the “Organizers” group has access to special app features, such as sending out push notifications to attendees, or moderating questions and charts.

Conference speakers can also have their own group, with a private chat and push notifications to remind them that their time is running up or about other logistical issues.
